Just remember kids! The government would rather crack down on “crime” in the form of non-aggressive “copyright violations” instead of trimming back on (or just abolishing entirely) its own “Drug War” that creates a climate perfect for hugely rampant aggression.

How to cut down on an enormous chunk of “illegal” downloading, and this is so absurdly simple that it boggles the mind:
- make your show / movie / whatever accessible online.
- put ads on it so you can make money off of it, or sell a subscription to a competitive streaming service like netflix.
- make it available
- everywhere, meaning the country of origin and everywhere else
- as soon as it airs (tv shows) / becomes legally available to purchase (films &cet). not a week and a half later, not three days later, not the next morning. as soon as. people who are savvy about internet downloading and things are generally going to be the sort of people who hang out online and want to talk about their favorite shows as soon as they happen with their friends who are in that timezone/country. you’ll cut down on a shitton of downloading if you just make things available legally faster.
- square yourselves with the idea that in this age of high definition and internet streaming that seeing a film in a cinema is a premium service and should not be relied upon as a primary method of distribution.

Here’s a tip for the do-it-yourself crowd:
Go to your computer’s Start menu, and either go to
“run” or just search for “cmd.”
Open it up, and type in “ping [website address],”
Once you have the IP for a website, all you really
need to do is enter it like you would
a normal URL nd hit enter/press go. Typing in
“208.85.240.231”
should bring you to the front page of AO3,
for example, just as typing “174.121.194.34/dashboard”
should bring you straight to your Tumblr dashboard.
Since we’re obviously bracing for the worst case scenario
which would involve you not being
able to access the internet regularly, you should,
save this list.

I said fight your own battles on your own terms right?
The numbers next to the links are called ip addresses, if you’re not familiar with what they are, I recommend giving it a quick lookup. If you find that you cannot access any of the linked domains, try punching the ip address in your url bar. If that does not provide the desired results give “modify hosts file (insert your os here)” a quick google.
